KITO U.S.A. Corporate History

The story of KITO U.S.A. is worth telling—one of recognizing a need, responding with purpose, and emerging as a global leader in automotive machining systems. KITO MACHINE INDUSTRY CO., LTD began its journey in 1951 with fabrication operations in Showamachi, Toyota City.

Pioneering from the Start

In its formative years, KITO U.S.A. pioneered the development of the first parts-washing machine, followed closely by contributions to what would become the Toyota Production System—long before similar systems were adopted elsewhere. Kazuo Kito, the company’s founding President, later became the inaugural Chairman of EIHOKAI, an association of equipment suppliers to Toyota Motor Corporation. Since then, two successive Presidents have carried the legacy forward, leading the company through decades marked by multiple awards for quality, safety, and innovation.

Guiding Principles from Our Founder

KITO U.S.A.’s automated body weld equipment and conveyance systems are now found across North America, with installations in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. As global automakers evolve, so too does KITO U.S.A.—adapting through collaboration between our expert teams and automotive engineers and drawing on a network of global resources built over nearly 70 years.

Global Reach, Local Focus

KITO U.S.A. understood early on that the automotive industry is driven by constant change and rapid technological progress. To thrive in such an environment, adaptability became our core strength. The establishment of KITO U.S.A. in Lexington, Kentucky, in 1996—close to Toyota Manufacturing in Georgetown—was a strategic move that benefited both KITO U.S.A. and Toyota.

Collaborating for Production Success

Lexington embraced KITO U.S.A. as a valuable addition to its growing economy. Over the years, KITO U.S.A. has become an active community member, engaging with Commerce Lexington and the Japan/America Society of Kentucky. Our commitment to the region reflects our broader mission—being a strong corporate citizen and contributing meaningfully to every community we serve.
